A media interface controlling method and an apparatus thereof are provided to exactly and easily search a user's intended part, thereby remarkably reducing trials and errors for movement to a desired time. A media receiver(110) receives media through a broadcasting signal. A sectional feature extractor(130) extracts sectional features by analyzing the media. An interface controller(140) displays an interface for searching the media, by using images corresponding to the sectional features. The images correspond to icons or characters from which the sectional features are reminded of. The interface for searching the media is realized as a scroll bar. If a play command is received through the interface, the media are played from a reproduction time.
