A caterpillar tension controller for a special purpose vehicle is provided to be mounted in the vehicle to be protected from external environment and any possible problems caused by exposure thereof. A caterpillar tension controller for a special purpose vehicle includes a fixed bracket(11) fixed at a side of a vehicle body, a rotary arm(13) coupled with the fixed bracket at an end and rotative with respect to a reciprocating operation element(12) and a rotation shaft(D) at the other end, a connecting rod(16) connected to the operation element and the arm for converting the reciprocation motion of the operation element to the rotation motion of the arm, and a moving wheel(14) for controlling the tension applied to a caterpillar(15) in direct contact with the caterpillar by moving to and fro according to the rotation of the arm.
