The device has a band mounted on a vertical or slant wall (10) and presenting an outer side offering a comfort support to a standing passenger. The band has a longitudinal pivoting part (22) that is mounted in rotation around a horizontal axis to form a seat, when the seat is brought to a horizontal position. The pivoting part is associated to gas springs (28) that are mounted in cases (24) at ends of the pivoting part.
