The sheath (1) has a reception sleeve for receiving a notched metallic rod (2) in a sliding manner. A slide (3), made of plastic material, is mounted movably and radially, and includes a locking edge (4) that cooperates with a notch of the rod so as to lock the rod in sliding. The slide is constraint towards the sleeve by elastic constraint unit (6) so as to constraint the sleeve in support against the rod in non-notched zone. The edge includes a vertical end wall (7) of 3 millimeter height so as to take support against the rod in a non-notched zone on a support zone (8) of similar height. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a mounting rod for mounting a head rest on a backrest of a seat of motor vehicle (2) a seat having a mounting assembly.
