The device has a leaf spring (3) whose end (5) includes a contact element i.e. roller (6), contacting a guiding unit (7) e.g. cam. The unit defines a clutch assistance law for allowing the spring to exert a return moment on a pivoting clutch pedal (1) towards a stable high clutch position up to a given rotating angle of the pedal, and a declutch assistance law for allowing the spring to exert an assistance moment to assist the rotation of the pedal towards a low declutch position. The clutch assistance law is different from the declutch assistance law.
