<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brush roller which is manufactured by a few manufacturing processes and is low-cost, uniformly supplies and applies a coating material onto the entire surface of an abutting object, without causing uneven distribution of the coating material in one direction or removes the coating material therefrom, which therefore prevents the occurrences of noise or turning up due to deficient sliding property of the abutting object and prevents the occurrence of cleaning failure, such as, excessive toner due to deficient film formation and furthermore, which has superior durability and enables images of high quality to be formed, and to provide a method of manufacturing the brush roller, and to provide an application device and an image forming apparatus each equipped with the brush roller. <P>SOLUTION: The brush roller includes a stick like core member 1 with a constant outer diameter functioning as a core, a belt shaped flocked lace 4 for supplying and applying the coating material 3 onto the surface of abutting object 2, or removing the coating material therefrom by being spirally wound on an outer periphery surface of the core member 1 and abutted against the abutting object 2; a spiral direction gap groove 5 generated by wrapping of the flocked lace 4; and an additional groove 6, formed in a direction which is reverse to the spiraling direction of the gap groove 5. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
