<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor which prevents the crack of a sensor element caused by the dewing water produced on the inner wall or the like of the inner cover at a cold starting time. <P>SOLUTION: The gas sensor 20A has a sensor element 21 partially protruded in gas to detect the component of the gas and an insulator 22 for supporting the sensor element 21. A cover part 23 is provided in the periphery of the sensor element 21 and the vicinity of the root part 25a of the sensor element protruding part 25 of the sensor element 21 protruded in an exhaust gas from the surface 24 of the insulator 22 exposed to the gas is covered with a water absorbing member 30. By this constitution, the scattering of dewing water to the sensor element 21 when the dewing water is produced on the inner wall or the like of the cover part 23 at the cold starting time is suppressed, so that the crack of the sensor element 21 caused by the scattering of the dewing water produced in the vicinity of the sensor element 21 is prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
