<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: the original performance of a recorder cannot be exhibited fully since image qualities differ depending on a selected host interface or throughput decreases. <P>SOLUTION: A recorder including a high speed serial interface is disclosed which uses, as a host interface for the recorder, an eSATA interface used for only a storage device heretofore and can specify, as a destination of image data transmission, an SATA HDD incorporated in a main body of the recorder from the printer driver of a host PC.
