PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change a display screen at a restart from a dormant state according to the dormant period. SOLUTION: This car navigation device 1 has a power source control section 100 which controls an operation mode to supply power to all circuits at engine starting of a vehicle and a backup mode to supply power for backup to some circuits including DRAM 160 at engine stopping, and the device is in the dormant state where the storage content of the DRAM 160 and the information during the operation are held at engine stopping and can operate continuing the state as in the middle of operation at engine restarting. When the device moves to the backup mode with a signal to stop the engine and if a screen other than a map display screen of the current position, the device stores current position map data in the DRAM 160.
