PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic toner having a small particle diameter and a high circularity, excellent in image characteristics and excellent also in storage stability, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic toner is obtained by the manufacturing method including a step of shaping a polyester-containing resin into particles in an aqueous medium, wherein the polyester-containing binder resin contains a polyester obtained by condensation polymerization of an alcohol component containing an alkylene oxide adduct of bisphenol A in which an average number of moles of ethylene oxide added is 2.5-4.5 and a carboxylic acid component, and a content of an ethylene oxide unit moiety derived from an ethylene oxide adduct of bisphenol A in the binder resin is 3.9-20.6 wt.%.
