PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten time required for diagnostic operation after control operation in case of earthquake and early return to normal operation when an abnormality is not detected during the diagnostic operation. SOLUTION: In a well-bucket type elevator control device for performing the diagnostic operation to resume operation after the control operation in case of earthquake, based on a braking distance when a car 1 in no-load state is rapidly stopped during lifting at predetermined first speed, speed higher than traveling speed when the car 1 is lifted during the diagnostic operation is set to be traveling speed when the car 1 is lowered during the diagnostic operation.
