PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a state estimation device for a mobile member, and a state estimation method for a mobile member, capable of estimating the state of a mobile member based on a signal from a sensor mounted on the mobile member without increasing amplifier circuits to one sensor even in the case that periodic fluctuation is added to the signal outputted from the sensor due to a periodic vibration transmitted to the sensor. SOLUTION: A control circuit computes an interim acceleration Gyp in a time-serial way based on an acceleration signal inputted from an acceleration sensor. The control circuit computes the lateral acceleration Gy of the vehicle using the method of least squares from an actual waveform based on each interim acceleration Gyp computed in a time-serial way, and estimates the vehicle state based on the result of the computation.
