PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating shrinkage cracking in a casting where the part at which the risk of generating shrinkage cracking is high in the surface of a casting can be specified with uniform and objective standards. SOLUTION: In the shrinkage cracking estimating method, as an integration step, shrinkage cavity data obtained by three-dimensionally specifying a plurality of generation parts of shrinkage cavities based on casting simulation and surface data obtained by three-dimensionally extracting the shape of the surface of a casting are integrated in such a manner that the three-dimensional coordinate axes are made coincident, so as to obtain three-dimensional integrated data (S105). Next, as a measurement step, the shortest distance between each shrinkage cavity and the surface of the casting or the like is obtained (S106). Thereafter, as an evaluation step, in each shrinkage cavity, the fact that the risk of generating shrinkage cracking is high in the surface of the casting corresponding to the shrinkage cavity in which the shortest distance or the like is deviated from prescribed value is specified (S109).
