<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain brightness unevenness in a backlight using the smaller number of light sources. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight 100 for an image display device is provided with a plurality of thermionic cathode fluorescent lamps 10, and a case 20 housing the plurality of thermionic cathode fluorescent lamps 10. A bottom face 20b of the case 20 makes up a reflecting plate 21, with a first light intensity (Ih) of the fluorescent lamp 10 in a parallel direction along the main face 20b (the bottom face) of the reflecting plate 21 larger than a second light intensity (Iv) of the fluorescent lamp 10 in a vertical direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
