PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic switch with a heat ray sensor readily designed to allow arrangement using an existing switch box. SOLUTION: A housing 4 includes: a body part 41 fixed to a ceiling material with its upper surface abutting on the ceiling surface when embedded; and a terminal block 42 protruding upward beyond the upper surface of the body part 41, having four wire insertion holes 41a into which wires to be connected to wire connecting terminals are inserted and housed in an embedded hole formed in the ceiling surface when embedded. Respective circuit components constituting the heat ray sensor and a control means and respective circuit components constituting a switch means are disposed lower than the upper surface of the housing body part. The size of the terminal block 42 can be reduced in comparison with the case of housing the respective components in the terminal block 42. Thus, a design is readily made in which the terminal block 42 has the size and shape suited to be housed in the existing switch box to be embedded to allow construction using the switch box.
