PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an internal combustion engine for restraining the generation of a deposit and the deterioration of fuel into a gum quality property. SOLUTION: A hybrid system 1 in this embodiment has a fuel property determining device 50 determining a property of the fuel supplied to an engine 10, an intake side valve timing variable device 28 for changing an operation characteristic of an intake valve 24 so as to restrain the spit of gas to an intake system from the inside of a cylinder 12 of the engine 10 according to a determining result of the fuel property determining device 50, and an ECU 100.
