<p>The inventors compared the BALF protein profiles of bronchial asthma patient and healthy normal subjects by using 2-D electrophoresis, chose the vitamin D binding protein(DBP) among protein spots that differently expressed in asthma patient's BALF, and validated the different expressions in ovalbumin sensitized mice model. In OVA sensitized/challenged mice model, treatment with anti-DBP antibody resulted in a marked decrease of airway hyperresponsiveness, inflammatory cell counts and cytokine productions, validating the relationship between asthma and DBP. Also the inventors show that challenging mice with DBP caused typical pathological aspects of allergic asthma. Disclosed are the relationship between the degree of DBP protein expression and asthma, and a therapeutic agent of asthma using biomarker for asthma, DBP antibodies or antisenses.</p> |
