<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To limit functions permitted to a user for each of a plurality of kinds of recording media different in communication system. <P>SOLUTION: The type of a communication system of an IC card 7 is determined on the basis of type information read from the IC card 7 by an IC card R/W 5 for reading information from a plurality of kinds of IC cards 7 different in communication system.Authentication is performed to determine whether the user is permitted to use an image forming apparatus or not on the basis of authentication information read from the IC card 7 by the IC card R/W 5. When the user is authenticated as a user permitted to use the apparatus, processing contents which can be executed in respective processing means including a facsimile, a plotter 13, a scanner 14, and other hardware resources 15 are limited on the basis of the determined type. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
