PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driver which does not require a terminal for controlling the number of outputs when switching specifications of the driver, and to provide a display device. SOLUTION: A shift pulse signal (STH) supplied to the driver (30) presents a shift pulse signal (STH') (STH'') for one specification among shift pulse signals (STH', STH'') for a plurality of specifications. The shift pulse signals (STH', STH'') for the plurality of specifications respectively present the number of outputs (''414'', ''384'') different according to the specifications. The shift pulse signal (STH') (STH'') for one specification presents the set number (''384'') of outputs among the number (''414'', ''384'') of a plurality of outputs. In accordance with this, an output switching control part (40) in the driver (30) selects output part groups (38-1 to 38-192, 38-223 to 38-414) corresponding to the set number (''384'') of outputs among the plurality of output parts (38-1 to 38-414).
