PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve an automatic flat knitting machine capable of carrying out multi-stage knitting in one transfer stroke of a carriage, and having high productivity with reduced power consumption in knitting a knitted fabric. SOLUTION: The automatic flat knitting machine includes a first and a second needle beds which are tilted and arranged, a plurality of knitting needles arranged along the tilted surfaces of the first and the second needle beds so that advance and retreat motion is carried out in a vertical direction, a plurality of actuators operably connected to each knitting needle in one-to-one correspondence for driving the corresponding knitting needle, a yarn guide device provided so as to be reciprocative in the longitudinal direction of the needle beds for feeding a yarn to each knitting needle, and a controller for optionally selecting and driving each actuator synchronously with the reciprocation of the yarn guide device.
