PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a vehicle so that a safety travel state of the vehicle is not impaired in spite of a driver's wrong operation of a shift lever or wrong stepping on a pedal, and to let a driver surely understand the wrong driving operation without any sense of incompatibility. SOLUTION: A traveling control device 10 for a vehicle includes a speed detector 2 which detects the speed of the vehicle, an acceleration detector 3 which detects the acceleration of the vehicle, and an acceleration limiter 1 which limits the acceleration of the vehicle below upper-limit acceleration set according to the speed of the vehicle.
