PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bill-handling device which prevents the clogging and jumping of bills at a bill discharging port. SOLUTION: A bill holder 6 is supported by a rotation pivot 61 in the vicinity of a bill discharging port 13, and an free end 62, which extends forward in the bill insertion direction, contacts the front end of a shutter 7 on the lower surface side of the free end itself. When the shutter 7 moves upward so that a bill passage to a money discharging port 3 may be closed, the bill holder 6 is held at a waiting position away from temporarily held bills. When the shutter 7 retracts into the inside of the lower-part base 21 of a temporary holding part 2 when it opens the bill passage to the money discharging port 3, the free end 62 of the bill holder 6 goes down to a load position to contact the upper surface of the accumulated bills and adds prescribed loads on the bills discharged from the money discharging port 3.
