PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing door device and a coin handling machine capable of detecting that the opening and closing door is surely put into an opening state from a closing state even by using a reflection type optical sensor. SOLUTION: The device has the opening and closing door 30 to be mounted so as to be swingably moved, and a reflection type optical sensor 33 for detecting an opening and closing state of the opening and closing door 30 by being disposed facing the opening and closing door 30 which is the closing state wherein a recursive reflection sheet 40 is provided at a surface facing the reflection type optical sensor 33 of the opening and closing door 30 which is the closing state. A reflected light from the recursive reflection sheet 40 can be received by the reflection type optical sensor 33 without any displacement when the opening and closing door 30 are only changed by a little angle from the closing state, whereas the reflected light from the recursive reflection sheet 40 cannot be received by the reflection type optical sensor 33 caused by displacement when the opening and closing door 30 is surely put into the opening state.
