PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for hot-spraying a refractory material, capable of efficiently hot-repairing a refractory layer of an inner wall of a furnace or container in a short time by improving the yield of the refractory material sprayed onto a repairing surface. SOLUTION: When a hot-stated damaged point of the refractory layer contacting with molten iron or molten steel is repaired by spraying the repairing refractory material thereto through a nozzle, the discharge quantity of the repairing refractory material from the nozzle 12 is set to 30-100 kg/min, and the quantity of water added to the refractory material is set to 5-25 mass%. Further, the spraying angle of the nozzle 12 to the damaged point is held within the range of 90-50°with a distance of 300-1000 mm between the tip of the nozzle 12 and the damaged place.
