PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent optical coupling efficiency or noise resisting characteristic from being deteriorated by restraining a glass fiber from generating dust through rubbing of the inner periphery of optical fiber insertion holes. SOLUTION: The optical module 100 includes: an optical ferrule 31 in which a plurality of optical fiber insertion holes 33 open in the end face 35 with an electric circuit 37 formed; an optical device 9 which is connected to the electric circuit 37 and mounted in a position opposing the optical fiber insertion holes 33; and optical fibers 13 which are held in the optical fiber insertion holes 33 and optically connected to the optical device 9. The optical fibers 13, in the inserting leading end 13a where the outer circumference of the coating 19 is in slidable contact with the optical fiber insertion holes 33, are provided with a step part 41 between the glass fiber 21 exposed with the coating tip end 19a slightly removed and the coating 19 with the leading end unremoved.
