PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problems: a conventional drain valve device, which makes a valve cover opened/closed by pulling a chain, a wire, or the like, is structurally complicated, failure-prone, and hard to clean; and another type of conventional drain valve device, which makes the valve cover opened/closed by using a mechanical box equipped with a thrust lock mechanism, is remotely controlled by means of a release wire, and requires much labor and a long period of time for its construction. SOLUTION: This drain valve device for the bathtub comprises: the mechanical box for lifting and lowering the valve cover of the drain valve; a supporting member on which the mechanical box is supported and which is loaded and supported in a drain outlet; and the chain, the wire or the like, which is anchored to the top surface of the valve cover connected to a supporting shaft of the mechanical box. The drain valve device makes the thrust lock mechanism of the mechanical box actuated by pulling the chain, the wire or the like, and makes the drain valve opened/closed by lifting and lowering the valve cover by the vertical motion of the supporting shaft of the mechanical box.
