The identify device attached to the item of interest may be referred to as a protected device that can be kept in communication with a background device. A protected device is formed when a an item of interest such as a credit card, drivers license, or medical card has an identifying device attached to the item of interest that converts the item of interest to the protected device (which protects an existing object of interest).
