PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing biosilica using silaffin, and the like. SOLUTION: Regarding the method for producing biosilica, in the case biosilica grains are formed using the silaffin, the repeat unit concentration of the silaffin to be used and/or temperature upon the formation of the biosilica is regulated, thus the grain size of the biosilica grains to be formed is controlled. Further, regarding the method for producing a biosilica-fixed substrate, the silaffin is adsorbed on a substrate having a prescribed crystal face, and biosilica is formed on the substrate by the silaffin.
