PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both high efficiency at a standard input current or smaller which is used frequently, and the assurance of maximum power at a high power factor. SOLUTION: A reactor whose inductance value is large but saturates with a standard current or more, and a reactor whose inductance value is small but does not saturate, even with a maximum current, are connected in series. An AC power source is shorted and opened by using a semiconductor switch. If there is a small current, a harmonic current is reduced by impedance, under a large inductance to drive a load connected to a DC side. If there is much current, a power source current is controlled to be of sinusoidal wave by small inductance and the semiconductor switch, to drive the load connected to the DC side.
