PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make updating work efficient by allowing setting information to be normally updated even in the case that a setting item identical to a setting item included in setting information printed on a document is not included in setting information of an image processing apparatus. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus which performs updating processing of its own setting information by reading setting information printed on a document includes: a storage means for storing setting information of the apparatus itself; a document reading means for reading the document and generating image data of the read document; and an operation processing means which extracts setting items included in setting information printed on the document and setting contents corresponding to the setting items, from the image data and determines whether setting contents can be updated or not per setting item on the basis of the extracted setting items and setting contents and the setting information of the apparatus itself stored in the storage means, and when determining that they can be updated, performs the updating processing.
