A terminal and a method for displaying a menu icon thereof are provided to minimize the power consumption cased by the use of a touch screen by supplying current for touch detection to the touch screen only when a touch function icons are displayed on the touch screen. A user of a terminal presses a touch-screen activation key prepared in an operation unit. A touch screen is activated, the touch from the terminal user is sensed(S51). When one point is touched on a touch screen, the correspondent point is dragged vertically and horizontally(S52). The touch function icons appear on the touch screen by being slid(S53). Therefore, the terminal user executes the function of correspondent icon by touching a desirable icon.
