<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a high-quality image in an electro-optic device such as a liquid crystal device while downsizing and cost-saving the device. <P>SOLUTION: The electro-optic device includes: a liquid crystal panel (100) having a liquid crystal layer (50) held between a pair of a first substrate (20) and a second substrate (10); a first optical compensation plate (310) placed in an incident side of source light in the liquid crystal panel and comprising a positive uniaxial crystal whose optical axis is inclined corresponding to the inclination of liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer on an interface with one of the first and second substrates; and a second optical compensation plate (320) placed in the exit side of the source light in the liquid crystal panel and comprising a positive uniaxial crystal whose optical axis is inclined corresponding to the inclination of liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer on an interface with the other of the first and second substrates. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
