<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a write once optical recording medium that excels in storage reliability and productivity, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: The write once optical recording medium has an inorganic recording layer and protection layers provided on both sides of the inorganic recording layer. At least one of the protection layers is composed mostly of indium oxide and tin oxide. A heat storage layer is further provided between the inorganic recording layer and a protection layer. A laser beam for recording and/or reproduction is radiated from a side of the heat storage layer or a side opposite to the heat storage layer to the inorganic recording layer.
