摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device capable of inhibiting emission deterioration by lowering of catalyst temperature even in a vehicle performing intermittent operation of an engine such as a hybrid vehicle and an economic running vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle control device includes a catalyst, a heat exchanger and a catalyst warming-up means. The catalyst is arranged in an exhaust passage. The heat exchanger is united with the functions of an exhaust heat recovery device and an EGR cooler and is arranged upstream of the catalyst in the exhaust passage. The catalyst warming-up means gives priority to warming-up of the catalyst by exhaust gas and prohibits temporary stop of the engine when bed temperature of the catalyst is equal to or lower than a predetermined temperature. In restating of the engine, by thus prohibiting temporary stop of the engine until the catalyst bed temperature reaches the predetermined temperature, the catalyst bed temperature can be made activation temperature and emission deterioration can be prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
