摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a range changeover device of a by-wire type for reliably performing range changeover with relatively simple control. SOLUTION: A detent member 51 of a detent mechanism 50 has a plurality of valleys 56a-56d corresponding to changeover object ranges. The valleys 56a-56d are shaped with their bottoms Y<SB>P</SB>, Y<SB>R</SB>, Y<SB>N</SB>, Y<SB>D</SB>and their centers X<SB>P</SB>, X<SB>R</SB>, X<SB>N</SB>, X<SB>D</SB>shifted from each other, respectively. A positioning member 53 has an engaging portion 57 for engaging with each of the bottoms Y<SB>P</SB>, Y<SB>R</SB>, Y<SB>N</SB>, Y<SB>D</SB>of the valleys 56a-56d and generates energizing force to thrust the engaging portion 57 toward the valley bottom. A control device 40 controls the drive of an actuator 60 to be stopped at a position where each of the centers X<SB>P</SB>, X<SB>R</SB>, X<SB>N</SB>, X<SB>D</SB>of the valleys 56a-56d corresponding to a requested range reaches the engaging portion 57. After the drive is stopped, each of the bottoms Y<SB>P</SB>, Y<SB>R</SB>, Y<SB>N</SB>, Y<SB>D</SB>is guided to be displaced to a final engaging position where it engages with the engaging portion 57, with the self-propelling operation of the detent member 51 due to the energizing force of the positioning member 53.
