PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intercom device for enabling an entrance slave unit camera to surely image an object that a visitor desires to image and enabling the visitor to check whether character information such as a business card is imaged in a readable way when the character information is imaged. SOLUTION: The intercom system includes a video recording part 17 for video recording the imaging video of a camera 5 of an entrance slave unit 1, a distance measuring part 4 for measuring a distance between an imaging object and the camera 5, a control part 21 for making the video recording part 17 perform a video recording operation of the imaging video of the camera 5 when the measured distance is within a prescribed range, an OCR (Optical Character Reader) processing part 24 for reading character information from the video recorded video, and a TTS (Text To Speech) processing part 25 for converting the read character information into voice, and allows the visitor to check the converted voice by emitting the voice from the speaker part 7 of the entrance slave unit 1.
