摘要 The object of the present invention is to inexpensively produce a carrier having a hydrophilic spacer, for immobilizing biological materials, etc., which has been very expensive so far. The present invention relates to a method of producing a substance immobilizing carrier, in which carboxyl groups or active ester groups are positioned on a support, which is characterized by including: a functional group-introducing step in which a functional group is introduced on a surface of a support; a hydrophilic compound binding step in which a hydrophilic compound having a binding group that can bind with the functional group and a hydroxyl group, is bound to the functional group through binding between the functional group and the binding group; a carboxyl group-forming step in which a carboxyl group is formed through ring-opening half-esterification between a cyclic acid anhydride and a hydroxyl group on the bound hydrophilic compound; and, if necessary, an active esterification step in which the carboxyl group formed in the carboxyl group forming step is converted into an active ester.
