The Monolithic refractory material of the invention is a Monolithic refractory material prepared by kneading cordierite powder, having a median diameter in a range of 10 to 50 mum, and a sharp mountain-like particle size distribution in which the content of particles smaller than 10 mum is 1% or more to 36% or less, the content of particles ranging from 10 mum or more to 50 mum or less is 50% or more to 75% or less, and the content of particles of 51 mum or more is 1% or more to 14% or less, and a solvent composed of water and alumina sol or silica sol solution.
