A drive device for a vehicle has a motor generator for generating drive force and also has a power control unit (PCU)(21) provided integrally with the motor generator and controlling the motor generator. The PCU (21) includes a low-voltage circuit section (71) to which a relatively low voltage is applied, a high-voltage circuit section (75) placed behind the low-voltage circuit section (71) with respect to the front-rear direction of the vehicle and to which a relatively high voltage is applied, and a cooling plate (72) placed between, with respect to the front-rear direction of the vehicle, the low-voltage circuit section (71) and the high-voltage circuit section (75) and cooling the high-voltage circuit section (75). The construction appropriately protects the power control unit against an externally applied impact.
