POLYMER ELECTROLYTE FUEL CELL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer electrolyte fuel cell which is less in reduction of battery performance due to deterioration of a catalyst metal.

SOLUTION: The polymer electrolyte fuel cell contains one or more ions selected from the group consisting of trisbipyridyl iron ion ([Fe(dpy)3]2+or [Fe(dpy)3]3+) and trisphenanthroline iron ion ([Fe(phen)3]2+or [Fe(phen)3]3+) in an air electrode catalyst layer containing platinum as an electrode catalyst. The ion exchange ratio of these ions is preferable to be 10% or more.
