PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which corrects deviation of a belt-type intermediate transfer body while keeping productivity in image formation still high. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus equipped with the belt-type intermediate transfer body, forming a visible image in accordance with image data on the intermediate transfer body and transferring the visible image to a recording paper includes: a deviation detection part for detecting deviation of the intermediate transfer body in a direction orthogonal to the moving direction thereof; a deviation correction part for correcting the deviation of the intermediate transfer body by inclining a roller for supporting the intermediate transfer body in accordance with the deviation of the intermediate transfer body detected by the deviation detection part; and a control part for determining an image forming mode which can be carried out in accordance with the inclination of the roller by the deviation correction part.
