PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image distortion correcting method for correcting distortion about an image photographed by a camera using a lens with a distortion aberration. SOLUTION: In a step S2, it is determined whether a certain pixel position (u<SB>di</SB>, v<SB>dj</SB>) of the image photographed by the camera using a lens with a distortion aberration is included in a circle Cd including an area where point group data on an image surface are present. In a step S3, an image coordinate (u<SB>i</SB>, v<SB>j</SB>) is obtained by applying a distortion correction function by polynomial approximation about the pixel position (u<SB>di</SB>, v<SB>dj</SB>) determined to be included in the circle Cd. In a step S4, an image coordinate (u<SB>i</SB>, v<SB>j</SB>) is obtained by applying a distortion correction function by logarithmic approximation about the pixel position (u<SB>di</SB>, v<SB>dj</SB>) determined not to be included in the circle Cd.
