PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of transmitting profile information in an exposure means, without adding a signal line for transmitting profile information such as inclinations and curvatures of the exposure means. SOLUTION: Profile data is converted into a laser drive signal. According to the profile data, a laser driver 505 drives a laser diode 506. A laser light quantity detection signal Y of a photo diode 507 that detects a quantity of light from the laser diode 506 is detected by a controller section 150 as serial data, thereby acquiring profile data.
