The invention is directed to methods for reducing the body weight in a subject comprising administering therapeutically effective amounts of a fatty acid ester of an estrogen or estrogen derivative in an oil. Furthermore the invention is directed to compositions for reducing the body weight in a subject comprising administering therapeutically effective amounts of a fatty acid ester of an estrogen or estrogen derivative in an oil.
