An apparatus and a method for cancelling echo signal by using a training sequence in a communication system are provided to prevent the degradation of the transmission signal quality by removing the echo signal by suing a training sequence. An echo signal elimination factor generator(327) detects the training sequence by using the first received signal. The echo channel impulse response calculated from the training sequence is used as the echo talker elimination factor generator and generates the echo talker elimination factor. An echo canceller(319) removes the echo talker of the first received signal by using the echo talker elimination factor. The echo canceller is the second received signal and removes the first received signal.
