A liquid crystal display is provided to improve response speed and brightness at the same time. A liquid crystal display comprises the first insulating substrate(10), a pixel electrode, the second insulating substrate, a common electrode, and a liquid crystal layer. The pixel electrode comprises micro concave stripes which are arranged in predetermined direction in each domain. The pixel electrode is formed on the first insulating substrate and divided into domains. The second insulating substrate(110) faces the first insulating substrate. A common electrode(120) is formed on the second insulating substrate and is not patterned. A liquid crystal layer(170) is interposed between the first and second insulating substrates. When an electric field is applied to the liquid crystal layer, liquid crystal molecules are inclined along with the micro concave stripes.
