<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of cracks at a non-magnetic layer arranged between an end face of a second layer of a shield and a medium opposite face. <P>SOLUTION: A shield 17 has a first layer 17A having an end face located in the medium facing surface 30 at a position forward of the end face of the pole layer 15 along a direction of travel of a recording medium, and a second layer 17B disposed between at least part of the coil and the medium facing surface 30 and magnetically connected to the first layer 17A. The second layer 17B has an end face closer to the medium facing surface 30, and this end face is located at a distance from the medium facing surface 30. A nonmagnetic layer 26 made of an inorganic insulating material is provided between the end face of the second layer 17B and the medium facing surface 30, and a photoresist layer 25 is provided between the end face 17B of the second layer and the nonmagnetic layer 26. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
