PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of reducing a radiation noise caused by an image clock, at low cost. SOLUTION: A conversion circuit 44 divides one pixel of image data by a prescribed integral value and generates pixel pieces. A controller 100 partially adds or deletes the pixel piece to/from one pixel in a prescribed scanning period through the use of a shift register 45 while aiming to change the period of a PWM signal as a luminous pattern signal outputted from a PWM signal generation circuit 41. The PWM signal generation circuit 41 generates the PWM signal as a luminous pattern signal of a laser beam based on the pixel data obtained by adding or deleting the pixel piece to/from the one pixel.
