PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easily prepared or available and low price proliferation promotor for promoting proliferation of bifidobacterium and lactobacillus to increase the bacterial concentration, and to shorten fermentation time.

SOLUTION: Sweet potato Shochu lees are used as an active ingredient of the proliferation promotor of bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus and the proliferation promotor is contained in foods, drinks and media.
