<p>This invention provides a lead battery which can suppress the corrosion of a current collector and can realize enhanced output. In the lead battery, 18 polar plate groups are housed in an electric battery casing. In the polar plate group, a positive plate and a negative plate are stacked on top of each other through a separator. The positive plate and the negative plate each are provided with a current collector formed by rolling a granular material of lead or a lead alloy. A positive electrode active material and a negative electrode active material each are held on the current collector. The granular material constituting the current collector is a powder having a predetermined particle diameter range obtained by separation from an atomized powder produced by spraying a melt of lead or a lead alloy for rapid solidification. The separated atomized powder has a maximum particle diameter of not more than 200 µm in terms of d + s wherein d represents the average value of the particle diameter of the atomized powder, µm; and s represents standard deviation, µm. In the current collector, the granular material is substantially evenly dispersed in a fine particle state, and, thus, the adhesion among granules can be improved.</p> |
